Database Marketing Coordinator  

The Database Marketing Coordinator supports the Marketing and Communications Department of the Academy in generating museum visitation revenue and visitor engagement. This individual is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and reporting on visitor data and identifying trends and opportunities to help shape the Academy's marketing and customer service strategies. Responsibilities include creating direct marketing campaigns and driving them from data collection to development and distribution. This position coordinates with departments throughout the Academy, including Development, Membership, Education, and Visitor Services, to ensure the collection and optimal use of accurate data. This is a Full Time position.  


The Database Marketing Coordinator must have foundational experience in web analytics and email marketing, experience working in content management systems, and strong written and verbal communication skills. This individual must be a self-starter who is able to grow and excel within a collaborative team environment. 

1. A Bachelor's degree is required, preferably in Marketing/Communications, Applied Statistics, or Business Administration 
2. A minimum two years of relevant experience 
3. Background in content development for direct marketing 
Strong copywriting skills 
4. Ability to write for various audiences to drive revenue generation 
5. Experience assisting with email marketing, split testing, and multivariate analysis to drive revenue generation 
6. Comfort in using data analytics to drive attendance or purchasing 
7. Extensive knowledge of and experience working in Excel 
8. Proficiency using HTML, website content management systems, ticketing systems, and CRM software 
9. Skilled at working in analytics platforms, especially Google Analytics; familiarity with generating reports and developing dashboards to share analytics with staff

1. Develop and modify systems to capture accurate visitor and member data on visitation, sales, and demographics 
2. Add new visitor/member data to ANS database and build segmented lists for use in direct marketing campaigns and appeals 
3. Develop content for targeted email campaigns to sell general admission tickets, exhibit tickets, events, programs, and memberships and attract repeat buyers 
4. Develop automated email program to capture post-visit data, including Net Promoter Score 
5. Conduct multivariate and split testing through email campaigns; Use MailChimp's automation workflows to create and track trigger-based emails that automatically send to subscribers
6. Analyze data/results from direct marketing campaigns, digital advertising, and program surveys to inform future campaign strategies 
7. Develop metrics and KPIs and provide regular reporting, dashboards, and interpretation to guide the Academy's marketing and pricing strategies 
8. Assist in the identification of channels of communication to be used in direct marketing campaigns 
9. Develop proficiency in the Academy's ticketing system, Siriusware 
10. Use Google Analytics and Siriusware ticketing system to track sales data and associate to on-site user behaviors, user segments, and traffic sources; Monitor daily attendance and program registration in Siriusware, identify patterns, and tie successes and challenges to marketing strategies 
11. Monitor the Academy's Google Analytics account and regularly report to the marketing team on website and campaign performance to inform decision making 
12. Work with the Academy's Development and Membership teams to send targeted appeals  

Part-Time Openings

School Programs Educator

Department: Education
Reports To: Manager of Museum Education
Salary Range:  $10.00/hr
This is a per-diem, part-time position averaging 20 hours/week October-June


School Programs Educators will be responsible for teaching PK-12 science lessons in the Academy and at sites around the Delaware Valley including area schools, daycare centers, and community centers. With support from Education managers, School Programs Educators will create lessons considering best practices, state and national educational standards, and individual school curriculum.

In addition to teaching lessons and leading educational programs in the museum and offsite, School Programs Educators will be responsible for all aspects of an outreach program which include transportation (safe driving practices, keeping the vehicle clean, and keeping managers apprised of issues with the vehicle) and communication with the program site (confirming the details of the program with contacts and verifying that all needs for the program are met before you arrive).

School Programs Educators will also be given priority for summer employment with our Academy Explorers Camp (July-August).

Range of Duties:

  • Actively engage students ranging from preschool to grade 12 in learning science
  • Create and implement high quality lessons and build science curriculum concerning a variety of science topics including (but not limited to) paleontology, invertebrates, and adaptations and evolution.
  • Learn to handle the Academy’s live invertebrate collection for education purposes
  • Learn to handle and present a portion of the Academy’s live vertebrate collection (including snakes, lizards, small mammals and small raptors)
  • Work cooperatively with a diverse museum education
  • Weekend, evening and early morning work required
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned


  • All applicants must pass Child Abuse Clearance, Criminal Background Checks and a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR).
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be comfortable driving in cities, on highways, at night and in inclement weather.
  • Excellent public speaking, organizational, and customer service skills required
  • Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
  • Strong background in the natural sciences
  • Experience teaching/supervising all ages, preferably in an informal education setting particularly preschool-aged children
  • Ability to follow instructions and work with minimal supervision
